Sweet Merge operates on a grid-based matching system where you align three or more identical candy pieces to clear them from the board. Each match triggers a merge calculation that converts cleared pieces into higher-tier candies, creating a cascading progression system. The game tracks your merge chains and awards multiplier bonuses for consecutive matches within a single move.
The puzzle engine introduces obstacles at specific intervals: chocolate blockers appear every 5 levels, jelly layers require double-matches to clear, and frozen candies need adjacent matches to thaw. Each obstacle type requires different strategic approaches, forcing you to plan 3-4 moves ahead rather than making random matches.
Power-up generation follows strict match rules: four-in-a-row creates striped candies that clear entire rows or columns, L-shaped matches produce wrapped candies with 3x3 blast radius, and five-in-a-row generates color bombs that eliminate all candies of one color. Combining two power-ups triggers special effects with significantly larger board impact, essential for clearing difficult levels past stage 200.
Progress through five distinct candy worlds, each containing 100 levels with increasing complexity. New level packs release monthly with themed challenges tied to seasonal events. Each world introduces unique obstacle mechanics and candy types that require different matching strategies to master.
Access six pre-level boosters and four in-game power-ups earned through gameplay or purchased with earned coins. Boosters include Extra Moves, Color Bomb Start, and Striped Candy placement. Chain matches within 3 seconds to activate the combo multiplier that scales from 2x to 10x based on consecutive successful matches. The multiplier applies to both score and coin earnings, making combo mastery essential for three-star level completion and leaderboard ranking.
Play all unlocked levels without internet connection. Progress syncs automatically when you reconnect, preserving completed levels, earned coins, and unlocked boosters. Only daily challenges and leaderboard features require active connection.
